Behind the Name
ZUGROS is inspired by the Zagros Mountains, a majestic range stretching over 1,500 kilometers from northwestern Iran through Iraq to southeastern Turkey, form the rugged backbone of southwestern Asia.
Home to diverse ethnic groups, the Zagros has historically served as a natural barrier and refuge, while its rivers, including the Karun and Karkheh, nourish fertile plains and ancient civilizations like the Elamites.
Today, it remains a biodiversity hotspot, harboring endangered species like the Persian leopard amid ongoing challenges from deforestation and oil exploration.
